Benedict P. Koch, 87, of Janesville, WI died on Thursday, November 25, 2010 in the Mercy Hospital emergency department. He was born February 20, 1923 in Milton Junction, WI, the son of Benedict John and Anna (Kuhnert) Koch. He was a lifelong resident of Rock County. Ben graduated from Milton Junction State Graded School and Milton Union High School. He was an honorary alumnus of Milton College. Ben enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed competitive rifle shooting and won the Wisconsin Senior Silhouette championship three separate years. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for over 40 years. This service was interrupted by three years in the United States Marine Corps with service in the South Pacific. Ben also was an assessor for the Town of Harmony for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beverly, a son, Robert of Waukesha, WI; a daughter, Kristin of Janesville; grandsons, Shane Smith of Madison, Cody Carter of Janesville; a nephew, Bill (Barb) Koch of Janesville; niece, Karen Koch; niece, Sandra (Bill) Ray of Elkhart Lake, WI; a nephew, Rob Ray; as well as several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Benedict John, 6 sisters; Margaret, Genevieve, Dorothy, Helen, Catherine, Rosalie; 3 brothers, Carl, William and Francis as well as a nephew, Tim Glynn.A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Cargill United Methodist Church, 2000 Wesley Avenue, Janesville. The family will meet friends for 2 hours prior to the services Sunday at the church. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park.
